Under the direction of the Manager, Database & Middleware, the Engineer III – Middleware will be focused on leading the management and maintenance of IEHP’s middleware application like Apache Tomcat, IIS, Kafka, WebSphere, etc and a passion for debugging complex problems. This role will also be responsible for production code release with support of the IEHP’s AppDev teams.

Education & Requirements 

  • The following experience may be concurrent:
    • Minimum eight (8) years of experience on Middleware applications like Kafka, IIS, Tomcat, Websphere, WebLogic, performance tuning and managing them in clustered environments
    • Hands-on experience with configuration management and automation tools such as Puppet (preferred), Chef, Ansible, Rundeck, Jenkins, and/or related tools
    • Hands-on experience with executing scripts and independently performing troubleshooting on Linux and/or Unix (RHEL/Solaris) operating systems
  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in Computer related field or similar technical field from an accredited institution required

Key Qualifications

  • Must have a valid California Driver's License
  • Expert knowledge of installing, configuring, administering, implementing and performance tuning clustered Middleware environments.
  • Expert knowledge of writing UNIX Shell Scripts (Korn, Bourne), WLST and Python Scripts
  • Strong understanding of the JVM and how it operates and optimizing it for best performance and availability, i.e., Garbage Collection, Tuning, etc
  • Expert knowledge of DevOps toolsets such as Jenkins, Kubernetes, Docker etc. desirable
  • Strong knowledge on AZURE or any other cloud technologies
  • Strong planning, organization, critical thinking, decision-making and communication (verbal and written) skills
  • Word processing and data entry involving computer keyboard and screens, distribution of supplies and equipment to in-house departments
  • Must be able to lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. Items weighing more than 50 lbs. will require assistance when moving. Back support belts must be worn when lifting, pushing, or pulling items. Projects involving lifting server appliance weighs up to 50 lbs. and heavy eye strain with computer monitors

Pay Range

  • $118,601.60 USD Annually - $157,144.00 USD Annually
